About

Efficiency. Resiliency. Sustainability.

Our History.

San Timoteo Energy Associates is named after San Timoteo Canyon in Southern California - a place close to where the founders grew up and first learned to appreciate the beauty of the natural environment and the fragile nature of desert ecosystems. The founders of the company have a long history in the sustainable operations of commercial/institutional buildings, as well as energy and water efficiency project development and implementation.

Our Team.

PRINCIPAL

Maric Munn

One of the first women in California hired as a Facilities Services Executive Director with an engineering degree, Maric is a sustainability expert and role model for diversity, equity and inclusion.  A vital part of making University of California San Francisco a leader in efficient, sustainable operations, she co-chaired the campus Sustainability Steering Committee and was lead on various Energy Efficiency, Central Plant and Utilities projects, as well as Design Review of New Construction projects. This work followed on from her role at the University of California Systemwide Office, where she co-authored the UC System’s first environmental sustainability policy.  As part of her decision to found San Timoteo Energy Associates, Maric pioneered a Green Building Operations & Maintenance Practicum to teach Climate Fellows and their host site Facilities Management and Sustainability staff the basic principles of building systems function, operations and maintenance. Maric is a professional engineer, LEED Accredited Professional, and an individual member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®).

John “Jed” Munn

A first career in naval aviation underscored Jed’s commitment to sustainability and renewable energy and developed his expertise in facilities maintenance and project management.  Post-Navy, Jed became LEED© accredited and certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) while working for a renewable energy contractor in the San Francisco Bay Area planning and installing solar PV arrays, and for an advanced metering company, developing and implementing metering schemes to measure the effectiveness of energy efficiency projects.  Jed is a master training specialist and takes the lead on energy use and water efficiency analysis for San Timoteo.

Juan Miranda

Juan Miranda grew up in the Bay Area and went to UC Santa Barbara where he received a B.S. in Environmental Studies in 2019. Juan chose sustainability because of his love for exploring the outdoors in California and experience with poor air quality during holiday visits to Mexico City, where he was born. After graduation, he focused on waste reduction with roles at Recology and RethinkWaste, before completing a ClimateCorps Fellowship at San Mateo County Community College District focused on sustainable procurement and circularity. During his fellowship he participated in the Green Building Practicum, and now is part of the support for that program.
